There may be no miracles in Miracle, according to certain characters on HBO's "The Leftovers," but there's now been a miracle about "The Leftovers," which HBO just renewed for a third season despite a precipitous ratings drop between seasons 1 and 2. There's a catch, albeit one that "Leftovers" co- creator Damon Lindelof specifically asked for: the third season will be the final one. Lindelof has been candid about how tough the show is to make, saying that he "was really depressed" making the first season. The reason renewal took so long last time was because Lindelof wasn't sure he wanted to do more episodes after that experience.
But Lindelof, Tom Perrotta, and everyone else involved took "The Leftovers" to the next level this season (here are my reviews of all the episodes), and before the season finale aired earlier this week, he told me that he not only wanted to continue, but that. That's not a particularly nice thing to say, but based on the way people continue to report information about a possible fifth Indiana Jones film, it must be true. It's the only explanation. Let's look at the facts. When Disney bought Lucasfilm, Indiana Jones was one of the assets that they purchased.
But Indy is a very different thing than "Star Wars,' and it always has been. Star Wars" is more than just a single story, and it's more than a particular set of characters. December 2. 01. 5 8: 4. AM, PST. The 7. 3rd annual Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning. On the movie side, "Carol" cleaned up, garnering the most nominations (five), while "The Big Short," "The Revenant," and "Steve Jobs" each earned four. Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Lawrence, who got no love in yesterday's SAG award nominations, were nominated, while Toms Hardy and Hanks were shut out again.
And while Mark Ruffalo didn't nominated for "Spotlight," he did get one for "Infinitely Polar Bear," a movie few people had even heard of. American Crime," "Fargo," "Mr. Robot," "Outlander," "Transparent," and "Wolf Hall" had the most individual show nominations, with three each. The major networks were nearly shut out entirely (with the exception of Fox's "Empire" and ABC's "American Crime"), with Netflix (eight), HBO (seven), Starz (six), Amazon (five), and FX (five) leading the nominations.
